Creating Equal Opportunities for a Brighter Tomorrow
Mpilonhle, in collaboration with the Independent Development Trust (IDT), established the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) to help reduce local unemployment by providing work opportunities to communities.
Expanded Public Works Programme
The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) programme aims to empower local residents through skills development, job creation, and contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the region. Through this partnership, Mpilonhle and the IDT have made a lasting impact by improving infrastructure, creating sustainable livelihoods, and fostering community resilience.
Project Localities and Duration
Mpilonhle has collaborated with the IDT for the past ten years, implementing the EPWP programme to provide work opportunities in the uMkhanyakude and King Cetshwayo communities.
What is the Independent Development Trust?
The Independent Development Trust (IDT) is a Schedule 2 state-owned entity responsible for managing the implementation and delivery of essential social infrastructure programmes on behalf of the government. The organisation reports to the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, who acts as the shareholder representative.
