This past school holiday, Mpilonhle proudly launched and completed its first-ever Community Computer Programme, designed to equip young adults with vital digital skills for today’s world.
Held over two weeks during the Term 2 break, the programme was open to community members aged 18–35, though we were inspired to welcome a few older participants who were just as eager to learn. Sessions took place at Nhliziyo High School and Indukebandla Primary School, where our facilitators introduced learners to computer basics, typing skills, and Microsoft Word through interactive, hands-on training.

For many participants, this was their very first time using a computer. By the end of the programme, they had not only built foundational digital skills, but also gained the confidence and capability to apply for more job opportunities, further education, and other pathways that require computer literacy.
We wrapped up with a celebratory graduation ceremony for all who passed their final assessments at both schools. It was a proud, emotional moment filled with joy, gratitude, and a renewed belief in the power of access and opportunity.
We look forward to expanding this initiative and continuing to support digital inclusion in our communities.
