The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) Food Garden Initiative promotes rehabilitation, food security, and skills development within correctional centres. The programme equips participants with practical agricultural skills while contributing fresh produce to correctional centres and community support efforts.

Mpilonhle recently welcomed the Deputy Minister of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) to our digital labs. Funded by DSTI over the past three years as a pilot project, the labs have equipped thousands of young people with vital ICT and career skills. The visit focused on reviewing the success of the pilot and exploring opportunities to expand the initiative to reach even more communities.

The Independent Development Trust (IDT) Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and School Cleaning Programme that was implemented in schools, addresses gender-based violence through awareness, education, and capacity-building initiatives, while also providing cleaning support to promote safe, dignified, and healthy learning environments.

Mpilonhle recently hosted its first-ever Community Computer Programme during the Term 2 school holidays, training young adults in computer literacy across two schools, and proudly celebrated the graduates who passed their final exam.

Mpilonhle, in partnership with Umkhontokayise Clinic, supported the Port Dunford Thusong Service Centre in Richards Bay with essential donations from the Beverly Hills Hotel, including wheelchairs, linens, and hygiene items, to uplift people living with disabilities and others in need.

Mpilonhle’s technical team recently completed a full infrastructure upgrade at Sigidisabathembu Primary School’s computer lab, including re-cabling, re-networking, and the installation of brand-new equipment to support digital learning for both learners and the wider community.
